About

About

Nikolo's Horse Club is an equestrian centre and riding school in Kulynychi, in the Nemyshlianskyi district of Kharkiv. Almost 8 hectares, a 50-stall stable and a 20×60 indoor arena. We teach beginners, train athletes, take horses on livery and host dressage and show jumping competitions.

The club

The stable was built to European standards

Automatic drinkers in every stall, wash bays, ventilation, lighting and video surveillance. For guests and riders: heated changing rooms, showers and parking. You feel it in winter: it's minus ten outside, the lesson goes on in the indoor arena, and there's a hot shower afterwards.

Since 2021 the club has hosted dressage and show jumping competitions judged by international judges. In autumn 2021 it hosted the first national riding festival HORSES SPIRIT: demonstrations, equestrian theatre and a pas de deux by Masters of Sport to a live symphony orchestra.

In 2022 we stayed in Kharkiv. We bought generators, stocked up on fuel, fed the horses and kept teaching. For the help that year we thank the volunteers, in particular the British organisation UPAW.

Olena Bezuhla

Owner and driving force behind the club

She says horses came into her life first — sensitive, intelligent animals. Only then came the question of where to keep them and how to care for and train them. Nikolo's Horse Club grew out of that question.

Facilities

What's on site and how big it is

The club's standing rests on its scale, its names and its competitions.

Indoor arena

20×60 indoor arena

1200 m²

The footing is quartz sand with geotextile on a gravel base: it holds moisture after watering and doesn't raise dust. Stands for parents and guests. Mirrors on the walls so the rider can see their seat.

Horse walker: a horse circling under cover

Horse walker

6 horses

A mechanical walker for six horses in the open air but under cover. Warm-up and exercise without a rider, and a great alternative to the paddock in winter.

Outdoor arena

30×80

For lessons in the warm season and for show jumping competitions.

Paddocks

Paddocks

Fenced turnout areas, some with electric fencing. The horses walk, socialise and run.

Stable

3×3.5 m stalls. Wash bay and solarium for horses, heated tack room.

Horse care

A stabled horse depends entirely on people. This is our routine

Feeding

Hay six times a day (meadow hay and alfalfa) and concentrates three times. Little and often — that's how a horse's stomach works. Water always available from automatic drinkers.

Cleaning

Stalls cleaned daily, fresh sawdust and shavings bedding every afternoon.

Turnout

Every day. A horse that stands in a stall without moving gets ill.

Grooming

After every lesson, with a wash in the wash bay when the horse has sweated. Hooves are picked daily and shod on time: the hoof works like a pump that drives blood through the leg, and everything else depends on its condition.

Veterinary care

Routine vaccinations and veterinary supervision, officially recorded.
